Clay Pugmill
Designed and fabricated a clay pugmill as part of a mechanical design project, applying principles of power transmission, material selection, and structural design. Implemented microcontroller-based control using Arduino and tested the system to ensure consistent extrusion, torque capacity, and mechanical reliability.
Catapult
Designed and built an automated mechanical / pneumatically actuated catapult using physics-based calculations for projectile motion, energy transfer, and structural loading. Modeled performance analytically, constructed the system, and validated predictions through physical testing and iteration of different launch angles.
Desalinator
Engineered and fabricated an automated small-scale desalination system utilizing a boiler–condenser configuration. Conducted research into emerging desalination technologies and integrated innovative thermal management and flow automation strategies. Designed system architecture, selected materials based on thermal and corrosion properties, and implemented automated control pathways. To enhance condensation efficiency, incorporated a dry ice–assisted cooling approach at the condenser to increase the temperature gradient and accelerate phase-change heat transfer. Quantitatively evaluated system performance through heat transfer and evaporation efficiency analysis.
Ergonomic Workstation & Hovercraft
Designed an automated material-handling system combining an ergonomic workstation with a hovercraft transport platform to improve manufacturing efficiency and operator safety. Incorporated adjustable ergonomics for different users and OSHA-based safety features such as two-hand controls and guarded operating zones to reduce strain and improve process reliability.
